Its 5 weeks to Christmas and I still haven't started my Christmas shopping. I cant believe I have left it so late. If you are like me and only just thought what could I buy my better half that is just a wee bit special and different, or what could I buy for that special lady in my life? Can I recommend some swarovski crystal, fresh water pearl, semi precious gemstone jewellery. I would like to offer all people on Falkirk business forum a 10% discount on prices quoted on my website. Please note t…

If you got to my gallery page you will see the last three most recent happy brides. The most recent letter is from a bride to be, the next one is my niece and the third one from a wedding which took place in September.

Its always nice when a bride sends you a picture of herself on her wedding day wearing something that you have made. It makes you feel that the work you have produced is appreciated. But its also nice when other people host pictures of a special day and you can direct other people via the web to see these pictures. I was in the fortunate position this year of providing tiaras for 16 girls in the Deanburn PS retinue. Pictures can be viewed at the…

I have recently added some photos to this forum. One was a tiara with no name. I am happy to say that I now have a name for it. Gabriella, there is no particular reason for this name, I just liked it. I have since added it to my website along with another 3 tiaras. Alison is made of fresh water pearls, white swarovski pearls and swarovski cyrstals. I made this tiara for my husband second cousin who is getting married in August. Woohoo a wee trip down south for us to Chichester. As it is the week…

Every Thursday .....ok being truthful here I shop everyday. Usually just for milk and bread and the odd treat for my teenagers. Strange how milk and bread and the few treats usually come to approximately £15 but that's another story. On entering my chosen Supermarket I head straight for the newspaper stand and pick up my favourite weekly paper. The Falkirk Herald. Now I take it home and I leave it on my kitchen table as I never read it till I get back home in the evening. After putting the rest…

No sooner was the New Year celebrations over, the shops were gearing up for the next seasonal event. You will be happy to know that if you have a craving for cream eggs they are now in the shops. But hey....as a small hobby business maybe its not such a bad idea to be thinking like the shop keepers. For me, weddings are very seasonal but the first of my calls for this season started almost as quickly as the cream eggs hit the shops. Ok don't put the flags out yet, its only 2 confirmed appointmen…

I was asked a little while ago by a member of my church if I would consider attending a women's guild meeting with my tiaras and jewellery. I was assured that all that was involved would be for me to set up my stuff and chat with the ladies about what I did. I said "I would be delighted to", thinking it would be just a case of allowing the ladies to try on the various tiaras, side tiaras and jewellery, passing out my business cards and hopefully get a few calls from them looking for Christmas pr…

I personally don't feel like a person in business. I am a mum, housewife and carer that also makes tiaras and jewellery as a useful way of filling up what little spare time I have left. I also enjoy knowing that there are people out there wearing things that I have made, and of course its nice to earn a little money from being so constructive. I always feel a little guilty when I fill up the blog section on this website with my trivia. So, I have decided to be constructive (ok business is quiet…

Apparently a recent survey to find the happiest place to live in the UK has found Falkirk to be amongst the Top 10.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7584321.stm
They have taken into account employment , health and educational qualifications in making this determination. But sadly our near neighbours in Edinburgh come out the most miserable place to live.
Its lovely to think that we live in such a happy place because all of the essentia…

I am just a little hobby business....hence my ability to add posts to my blog. I have a lot of spare time. Ok not strictly true. As mum , housewife, carer then small hobbyist business woman....well maybe not even business woman more hobbyist (excuse any bad spelling I dont think my spell check is working), my spare time for forums are usually first thing in the morning, then after dinner, then just before I go to bed.
Through joining forums, I have changed my website hosting company, found a sup…

Excuse the rather suggestive title but its not what is seems. This past week the earth has literally been moving. It feels like a lot of little earth tremors. Whats going on you may wonder? Unless you live or work in this vicinity then you will not know what I am talking about! The demolition of the council refuse department in Wood Street to make way for a new housing development. It hasn't been too noisy. Well not any noisier than when the refuge department were based there. For the last few y…

It was nice to see it so well attended last Saturday after the rain last year putting everyone off. All my children are too old to be interested in the galaday (twins 17 and oldest almost 20) and I dont have any other family members of school age to go and wave to. But there I was watching it for possibly a selfish reason coupled with some pride. The girls of the retinue were gorgeous in their galaday dresses and I was particularly delighted to wave at them passing by in the cars wearing my tiar…
