Eddie Walker Car Parts Online Store

In the middle of a major online store website for Eddie Walker Ltd, a local motor factors with over 250,000 product lines it's a big undertaking but one I am really enjoying.
Have a look and let me know what you think of it so far, the ability to purchase online is not too far away as I am just sorting out some details of shipping, security and such, if you call to order anything and quote "website" there is a 5% discount which is nice.

Here is what I did with a spare domain name and some double sided sticky tape.

I set up a site to share my findings while roaming around the web last wekend and I thought I would share.

Have a look through and see if there is anything that you might like, most of the stuff I post on there is free but there is the odd paid service, it is far from a finished site but it works and it might be worth bookmarking as I wil be adding items daily.

Hi Mark

It is a limitation of the system in that it is a social networking concept rather than a business directory but I agree it would be a useful facility.

On the other hand that is what the keyword section of the member profile is there to do to some extent.

If you search for 'painter' or 'decorator' nothing shows ups but if you search for 'painting and decorating' then there is a member. Perhaps what is needed is a better understanding of the use of keywords in the profile.

It's a bit like SEO in that knowing what keywords to target is the first and most important part of attracting traffic.

The only thing that can be done, as we are in the hands of the developers, is to pass on the suggestions and hope that it is taken up and for members to add as many of the most relevant keywords to their profiles as they can think of relating to their business.

regards
Rob

Hi Mark

Good to hear from you. As you have probably guessed I still have not progressed my website. But the good news is that business has really picked up so I will soon have a few jobs I can include in a portfolio. Give me a few more weeks (I go on holiday on Friday so it's all a bit hectic at the moment), and I will be in touch.

I would be delighted to be included on your business website. I will give some thought to the business profile info and I will email you my logo shortly.

Thanks again

Karen

Hi Mark

Thanks for your comment on my blog. I think you are right and I am currently (slowly) building the bones of what will be my web site, this is a learning curve you understand, just getting to grips with the ins and outs of Dreamweaver is making my already over worked brain hurt. My slight problem is that Lime Design has only been around a few months and has only handled a few jobs so although I have been a graphic designer for over 20 years my portfolio looks a bit thin on the ground. Mind you, by the time I master the web design software I may have a few more to add!

Thanks again for taking the time.
