Business In Falkirk - Showcase your products and services to customers.

Hi everyone,

I have created a new website which will be dedicated to showcasing the services and products for businesses located in the Falkirk area to the consumer and I am looking for some feedback on how it's coming along and suggestions as to what local business owners would like to see on the site, as yet it is in the early stages but the main structure is nearly complete and you can get an idea of what it can offer.

The site will be free for all local businesses to register and add their services, products, any discounts or coupons and job postings, I will be adding more features as time goes on e.g. customer reviews, a local forum, dedicated web-pages to local businesses as well as the usual local information, contact numbers and events, this is not a business to business site such as this one but more geared towards allowing the public to see what local businesses can offer, think of it as free advertising.

The early signs of the site ranking high in the search engines look quite promising as it has only been going for a couple of weeks and it is already on the first page of Google without any work being done to optimise it of indeed add it to the Google webmaster tools.

Let me know what you think and feel free to make any suggestions or criticisms.

Hi Allan,

I have disabled the registrations for now until the site structure is finished but once it is the emails for registrations will be sent automatically, it should only be a couple of more weeks now.

You can log in on the test account to try things out and add content if you want to give it a try.

Nothing negative in your comments Jim, there are a few style issues I have still to resolve and the logo was just a 5min photoshop mock up, I am hoping to get some more time over the weekend to spruce the whole site up.

The website seems to be doing really well at the moment in terms of search engine results, after testing for an hour or so last night on Google individial business page listings were very well placed in searches and one even managed top spot, a search on "media business in falkirk" gives ACC Media top of the search page, this is a surprise to me but good news for all who add their business to the directory.

The Business in Falkirk website looks to have secured some good business for ACR Double Glazing Repairs, a property management company based in England has contacted the owner and requested work be carried out for some premisis in Falkirk,

I have given the site a complete revamp with a new design and much improved business listing system, also everything about the site is free including featured business listings which would normally set you back a good bit for monthly advertisisng.

There are a few ad's from Google but once the site has more than 500 businesses listed I will be removing them from the site.

Like the site, its good and direct. Have you thought of having a Favicon, easy to do, might be an idea for your URL.

Any feedback on my site would be good, I know it needs a bit of colour etc

Hi Will,

Yeah I have a favicon on my centralpcrepairs site here and it works well, at present I am having a few issues with Joomla on the Business In Falkirk site so until I get these sorted out I am not ready to push the site forward.

I like your site and as they say content is king, I have never used wordpress to any great extent but I did come across a good looking free template just the other day, here is the demo and a download link here.

I am no expert by any means but I think a site always needs that instant impression of what the company does, for example on this site the first thing you are drawn to is the large Internet Marketing Done! flash image, it might help to get your message across in those all important first few seconds.
